About Screen Institute Beirut
AIMS

The overall aims of the Screen Institute is to support and promote film in all its forms as an important means of expression of cultural, artistic and social values.

The programmes, structures, policies and strategies are being determined and designed to meet the following general aims and objectives:

• To provide advanced level of education and training for creative film and programme makers in the film, broadcasting, educational and new media sectors of the region. Thereby making an effective contribution to the region's socio-economic, cultural and democratic development process and sustainability.

• To educate and train students and practitioners to create and produce films and programmes to highest technical standards and encourage innovative, creative expression.

• To make available production funding, physical production resources and professional support for young professionals to allow them to produce films that would otherwise not be realised.

• To improve and maintain production industry standards and practices and respond to new and changing audience expectations by providing access to new industry equipment and technologies and monitoring industry developments.

• To promote and develop Arab screen culture that reflects the views, issues and interests of the audiences and communities of the Arab world.

• To establish the Institute as a central point in the region for regular productive networking for the exchange of knowledge, information, ideas and resources to encourage and promote collaborative initiatives between industry and educational colleagues and organisations.

• To tell local stories and address Arab and international issues from an Arab perspective, including those of minority or disadvantaged groups.

• To encourage social and cultural diversity and critical analysis of screen production.

• To provide equal training opportunities for women in media, and promote the making and distribution of programmes that reflects women's perspectives, issues and role in society.

• To maximise on the existing facilities and resources, experiences, achievements and goodwill.
