Support SIB
What Your Money does?
Screen Institute Beirut (SIB) is a non-profit association established under Lebanese law. Donations play an important role in supporting SIB's mission, activities and programs.
Since 2009, Screen Institute Beirut has actively contributed to the growth and development of filmmaking industries in the Arab region. Through its
Film Fund, SIB has offered grants to more than (15) fifteen feature length documentary films written and directed by young professionals from the Arab world. Each of these grants represented a unique opportunity to promote cross-cultural understanding through documentary making.
By providing them, SIB introduced the regional and international audiences to remarkable stories and cinematic perspectives from every corner of the Arab world as most of the documentaries funded by The Film Fund were screened and received prestigious awards at various international festivals.
Screen Institute Beirut is determined to carry out the execution of its mission and expand its activities to the benefit of young Arab filmmakers by setting up its
Screen Academy. The Academy's mission is to contribute to the capacity building in the field of screen arts and techniques in the Arab region by providing high-level professional courses.
Your donations will support all of these endeavors and contribute to the success of SIB's mission.
Funding
The SIB-operating budget secures stable funding for two years at a time, renewable.
The current allocation for October 2009 – September 2011 is approximately USD 1,000,000. This has covered capital costs, equipment, rentals, wages and salaries; furthermore there is an allocation per year of USD 150,000 for production grants. We foresee that this will be far from adequate and our aim is to raise an additional USD 300,000 yearly to allow more productions to be realized and to support project development and subsequently distribution.
